Passed away peacefully April 10, 2006 at Evergreen House in North Vancouver at the age of 75.
Predeceased by her father Phillip Eugene Cathey and her mother Mary Margaret Cathey, Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by her loving husband of 56 years Jim, her children Carol (Jim), Shirley of Ladysmith, Kathy (Marc) of Port Moody and son Jim (Donna) of Errington, B.C. Grandchildren Jennifer, Mark, Krista, Jimmy, Tyler, Scott and Jamie. Great granddaughters Julia, Christina, Solace, and Devinn and her brother Donald Cathey (Sharon) of Campbell River and numerous nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was born in Chemainus, July 14, 1930. She lived in Chemainus and Ladysmith areas until 1969 then her & dad moved to Port Alberni. They spent a couple of years there and then moved to North Vancouver in 1971. Phyllis loved gardening, going to bingo, bowling, her trips to Reno and going to the horse races. One of her favourite music groups to listen to were the Bee Gees. Phyllis was a very loving,caring wife and mother. Her greatest joy in life was her times spent with her family.
The family would like to thank Dr. McWhinney and the staff at Evergreen House who supported the family and had a helping hand making Phyllis’ remaining time with us as comfortable as possible.
A celebration of Phyllis’ life will be held at the Ladysmtih First United Church, 232 High Street on Thursday, April 20th, 2006 at 2:00 pm, followed by interment in the Ladysmith Cemetery. Tea to follow in the United Church Hall.
