It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Raymond Peerens, beloved husband of 54 years to Bonnie, loving father of Lisa (Brent) and Darren (Paige), and proud papa of Kylynn (Curt), Richard, Nolan (Autumn), Emma Grace & Autumn Rose.

He will also be greatly missed by brother Ed (Aline), nephew Neil (Tanya), niece Christiane (Lou), great nephew Jaime and great niece Jessica (Zac), as well as numerous cousins and many special friends.

He was predeceased by his father Victor Peerens and mother Ellen Stokes.

Ray spent the first 6 days of life in Chemainus and then moved home to Ladysmith where he spent the rest of his life.

He worked for MacMillan Bloedel Ltd., then Weyerhaeuser as a grapple yarder and dryland sort stacker operator and retired after 41 years.

Ray was an avid hunter, fisherman and bowler in both 5 and 10 pins. He loved camping and fishing at Pacific Playgrounds where people affectionately referred to him as the "Bobber Man." His favorite place for a cup of coffee with all his friends was at Tim Horton's, and he enjoyed volunteering at the Ladysmith Historical Society Archives.

His family and friends will fondly remember his kind and friendly nature, great sense of humor, and ever glowing smile.

A tea will be held in honor of Ray's life on February 24, 2018 at the Eagles Hall: 921 First Ave, Ladysmith, BC - 1 - 4 pm.
