In loving memory ~
1941 - 2024
At the age of 82, Richard (Dick) John Reiber passed away peacefully on July 5th at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Dick served as a teacher for over 30 years in the Nanaimo-Ladysmith School District and taught at North Oyster Elementary School where both his parents taught and he met life-long friends. Dick grew up off Brenton Page Road and lived in the area for much of his life. He had a love for nature and always spent time outside pursuing recreation. He hiked, camped, sailed, went scuba-diving and rock climbing. He spent many summers onboard the Blue Fjord being a helping hand and friend on chartered tours. He was a scuba master and dove the waters off Vancouver Island for years with a close friend. He was happiest telling stories about his time spent adventuring and being with his dear friends. Dick was also a man of values who cared to do the right thing, taking care of his family and affairs. He was thoughtful and planned and provided for his family. His impact as a teacher in the community was far-reaching and he cared about giving and doing his best by his students. He will be missed. Dick is predeceased by his parents Dorothea and Steve Reiber and his sister Geraldine. He is survived by his children Steve and Kim, his grandchildren Ella and Judah, and siblings, Jim, Agnes, Maryanne, and Rose. A celebration of life will take place in Ladysmith at his home in the near future.
