September 29, 1921 – May 16, 2011

Our dear Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his wife, Dorothy of Saltair, BC, daughters, Helen Ferguson (Del) of Comox BC and Karen Barrette (Gary) of Williams Lake BC, son Andrew of Ashcroft BC, and step-daughter Brenda Lonsbury-Martin (Glen Martin) of Palm Springs CA. He will be greatly missed by granddaughters Sara Watson (Phillip) of Fort McMurray AB and Danielle Barrette (Gregory Russell) of Williams Lake BC, grandson Keelan Barrette of Williams Lake BC, great-grandsons Joshua Watson of Edmonton AB, Jordan Watson of Fort McMurray AB, and great-granddaughters Sophie Watson of Fort McMurray AB and Morgan Russell of Williams Lake BC. Bob, born in Grimsby England, was predeceased by his first wife, Agnes (nee Saqui). He served in the British Royal Navy from 1938-1950, and retired in 1987 from the Provincial Government as a probation officer. Bob was active in the St John’s Masonic Temple Ladysmith, Royal Canadian Legion Branch #191 Chemainus, Order of the Eastern Star Sharon Chapter #4 Ladysmith, Royal Naval Association, Unity Church of Nanaimo, Chemainus Senior Center Choir, and the Duncan Legion Pipe Band. Special thanks to the staff of Cairnsmore Place in Duncan BC for their excellent and loving care.

Please join us in a celebration of Bob’s life at the Chemainus Legion Hall on Thursday, May 26, 2011, at 1:30-4:30 pm. Donations in lieu of flowers to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the charity of your choice in Bob’s memory would be appreciated by the family. Bring your stories, pictures, and memories to help us celebrate.
