SMITH, Ronald Martin
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Martin Smith on September 6, 2016. He was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on October 27, 1928 and was predeceased by both parents and all but one sibling, a sister, Shirley Newton. Survived by his wife of 66 years, Frances Lillian Pearl, and children, Pamela (Maurice), Kelly, Judith (Dwayne) and Daniel (Carla). He will be dearly missed by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ron was a career firefighter for the District of North Vancouver. He was one of the original twelve men hired to form the new department. He was an avid outdoorsmen and in his youth, a competitive roller skater. He was actively involved in his community as a member of the Lions’ Club and the Knights of Columbus.
There will be a funeral service on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ladysmith, BC. at 11:00 am.
