CORFIELD, Ross Edward

May 25, 1943 to May 27, 2013

It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ross Corfield after a very brief illness which he fought valiantly.

He was predeceased by his parents Jim and Enid Corfield and his grandson Ryan.

He is survived by his partner of 32 years Barbara, his daughters Michelle (Tony) and Jacquie (Ben) and his 4 grandchildren Kyle, Claire, Ashton and Zander.

Ross spent many years as a Towboat skipper sailing in and around Vancouver Island and up and down the coast of BC. He even towed an oil rig all the way to Australia in his younger years. Except for the 3 years they spent in Prince Edward Island he lived his whole life in Cedar/Nanaimo area. After he retired Ross enjoyed time with his son in laws hunting and fishing in the Gold River area and out on the dive boat. He and Barb spent many years on road trips to the States and cruising the Caribbean, Baltic, Alaska and South America. They had just finished a 50 day cruise in March of this year. Ross found great joy and happiness in his family especially spending time with his children and grandchildren. Ross was a longstanding member of the K-40 club and a great supporter of the Coco Café in Cedar.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, June 2, 2013 from 2pm to 4pm at 1932 Bostrom Rd, Nanaimo, (the property where Ross grew up). For directions contact michellecorfield@shaw.ca

The family would like to thank the staff at the Palliative Care Unit, NRGH for their compassion and caring.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Nanaimo Hospital Foundation Palliative Care Unit.
