Dupont, Roy Joseph

It is with great sadness that the family of Roy Joseph Dupont announces his passing on June 13, 2009 at the age of 79. Roy was born in Regina, SK on December 28, 1929. He was pre-deceased by his parents Emily and Lawrence Dupont and sister Marie and brother Howard.

Roy served in the Royal Canadian Navy, worked as an engineer at University of British Columbia, member of the Royal Order of the Moose (Nanaimo), Member of Eagles Club (Ladysmith), member of the Legion, Rotary member (Ladysmith) and President of Cassidy Mobile Home Park (Ladysmith).

Roy lived his life making people feel happy and welcome as well as making a positive impact on all he met. With his family, Roy shared dreams, laughter and love. Roy’s love of his wife Barbara (59 years) and six children, sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren was his life. Roy left his entire family knowing “Family sticks together always and loving memories live on forever.”

Roy is survived by his wife Barbara, daughters Joanne Cartwright (Brian), Cheryl Dupont (Bruce Taylor), Dalyce Ervin (Dave Daughtry), and sons Douglas Dupont (Mitch), Butch Dupont (Michelle), Guy Dupont (Cheryl). Sisters Rita McArthur (Al Silvester), Diona Miron (Bill), Jeannette Dobson (Barry). Sisters-in-law Pat Burns, Sandra Verhaeghe (Al). Brothers-in-law Lorne Langton (Shirley), Harvey Langton (Ruth), Bill Gadd.

Roy’s wishes were that no service be held. The family will celebrate his life on June 20 with a family gathering. Barbara and the entire family wish to thank Dr. Love, Dr. Carr and the nursing staff in the Palliative Care Unit as well as the 3rd fl oor nursing staff at the Nanaimo General Hospital.

In lieu of fl owers, the family requests that donations be made to the SPCA (Nanaimo).
