MALBON,

Ruth Jeanette (Jean)

nee Patterson,

Passed away on August 22, 2002 peacefully at her home surrounded by family and friends. Born to Alan and Ruth Patterson in Ruskin, B.C. on April 11, 1928. Jean was a long time resident of Nanaimo where she raised her family with her husband Ron. She was a very active community person, and was a member of the council of Canadians and a long time Hospice volunteer. Jean was an ardent outdoors person, whose Cathedral was the forest and sea. Jean could be often found walking on the waterfront with friends. She especially enjoyed picking mushrooms, attending garage sales and the fresh fruits and vegetables of the fall harvest. Survived by her sons: Neil (Liz) Malbon, Les (Terry) Malbon; brother Gerald (Pat) Patterson, Mill Bay B.C., loving grandchildren: Dawn, Joey Connor and Lindsay and nieces: Mary and Louise and grand dogs.

A sincere thanks to Dr. John Cline and the Cline Medical Clinic, Hospice (Margaret Sam) and family and friends who created a team effort which enabled mom to stay home as she wished. A celebration of life and tea was held on Thursday, August 29, 2002 at 3:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Retreat House, 2371 Arbot Rd., Nanaimo. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mid-Island Hospice, 1729 Boundary Rd., Nanaimo B.C. V9S 4P3 would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Telford’s Mortuary.
