Hartl, Shirley Eileen

It is with enormous sadness we announce that Shirley passed on at NRGH early in the morning after a courageous battle with cancer.
She leaves behind her husband of 48 years Mike, son Barry (Theresa), daughter Cathy (Rob) and three grandsons, Dustin, Dylan and Colby, whom she cherished, along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Shirley was born in Viking, Alberta to Alfred and Lily Reishus, the youngest of nine. Predeceased by siblings Irene, Thelma, Evelyn, Fern, Marion, Irvin and Donald, she is survived by brother Ernest (Donna).
In 1969, Shirley, Mike and son Barry made the journey to their new home on Vancouver Island. Shirley dedicated her life to her family and especially adored her grandsons. She enjoyed gardening, camping, summer trips to her home town and even the extra early mornings to sell at the Cedar swap meet.
She will be remembered for always having a home cooked meal and delicious baked goodies available for family and friends.
Many thanks to family, friends and the medical community for your support and care. A big ‘thank you’ to the wonderful compassionate team at the palliative care unit in Nanaimo, who cared for Shirley and her family during this most difficult time.

Saturday, June 18th, from 1:00 to 3:00 at
the Eagles Hall in Ladysmith.
