Shirley Mary Louise Izon (nee Fry)

February 15, 1928-March 21, 2016

Shirley passed away peacefully at age 88 with her family by her side, at the Wexford Creek Care facility in Namaimo BC

Predeceased by her husband, Alfred John Izon (1997)

Survived by her loving family: son Rick (Karen), daughter Donna, sons Dan (Vanessa), Fred (Elizabeth); grandchildren; Dawn, Scott, Larry, Mike, Marty, Mark, Dan, Don, Brandy, Coralann, Kristina; brother-in-law Mel Welch; sister–in-law Mary Mauro; 13 great grand children and several nieces and nephews.

Shirley was the second of three daughters born to Pretoria (Tootsie) and Bill Fry. She was predeceased by her sisters Bonnie and Betty. She was raised in Vancouver BC where at the age of 15 she met the only love of her life and was married to Fred one year later.

In those early years Shirley and Fred worked at the Delta Drive in Theatre. In 1959 they were transferred to Victoria BC. Where they managed the Tillicum Drive in Theatre until 1970 when they purchased the Cassidy Drive in Theatre which they operated until it closed for good in 2003.

Shirley was a talented pianist who’s love for music brought a lifetime of joy and memories to all those she touched. Her love and abilities for music continues to be passed down to the generations she created.

A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at the Ladysmith Legion 621 1st Ave, Ladysmith, BC.
