ELDER,

Stanley Gordon, passed away peacefully in Ladysmith, B.C. with his wife Eileen at his side on Thursday, April 3, 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Ontario, March 6, 1925. A Veteran of WWII, serving with the Canadian Army overseas from 1942 until the war ended. Stan joined the Department of National Defence in 1950 as communications equipment tech., serving in the N.W.T. and Yukon. Also serving with the United Nations organization in the Congo, Isreal and many other foreign countries. Stan retired from the Department of National Defence to work with External Affairs in Ottawa. and posts abroad until 1980. Stan loved camping, hiking and marshmallow roasting. He enjoyed the challenge of learning and searching out word origins. He was always friendly, hard working, helpful, interesting and enthusiastic. “A go getter and a going concern to the end”. He came to Ladysmith in 1999 and very quickly gained a large cirlce of caring friends. Stan married Eileen (Bodaly) in 2001, they enjoyed gardening, together, also many other wonderful experiences in the short time they had. Stan will be sadly missed by all. Lovingly remembered by his wife Eileen, his son Martin (Debbie) and grandchildren Celia, Leif and Naomi, his daughter Mary (Bill) and grand-daughter Tashina, also all the Bodaly family. A celebration of Stan’s life will be Saturday, March 12, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. in the Ladysmith O.A.P. Hall, High Street. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer Society or Hospice Society would be appreciated. Arangements confidently trusted to Telford’s Mid-Island Memorial Services
