HOBSON, Stephen Richard (Dick)
Born June 15, 1929 in Princeton, BC - unexpectedly taken Nov. 19, 2008.
Dick will always be remembered for his love of family & friends, the outdoors, and sports. In his prime, playing softball was his passion leading to a BC championship. As a father he organized & coached his kid's sports. As a grandfather, he was the #1 fan of their varied sports. Unforgettable days were spent camping, fishing, and cruising BC's interior lakes and coastal waters; all the while accompanied by the love of his life, Doreen and, more often than not, a kid or a grandkid or two.
His life's work was the sawmill industry that took him all over BC's interior and finally to Vancouver Island where he eventually retired. His motto of not asking someone to do anything he wouldn't do himself, gained him a lot of respect amongst his coworkers.
Dick was a family man extraordinaire. No matter where he was he would go out of his way to look up an old friend or a distant relative. We will miss you Grandpa.
Predeceased by his parents Stephen & Alma, brother Gary, sister Billie, and grandson Ricky. Survived by his devoted wife Doreen, brothers Wally (Leona), Joe (Carol), sister Jerye (Yani), sons Bruce (Donna), Stephen (Arlene), Ferdy (E.T.), daughter Maureen (Monty), grandchildren: Mike (Alana), Amy (Craig), Adam, Kirsty, Erin (Sabastian), and great-grandchildren: Taleya, Tanner, and Tynen.
Celebration to be held Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Ladysmith Agricultural Hall, First Avenue, Ladysmith, BC.
