With great sadness the family of Thomas Edmond Bayer would like to share the news of his passing on Tuesday, February 7th, 2023.
He is survived by his loving wife Eilene, daughter Joan (Mark), grandchildren Kaitlyn (Brian), Olivia (Cory), Cole (Julie), and great-grandchildren Charles, Letty and the littlest one who's on its way. His presence will also be missed by many more in his family and friends. He was predeceased by his son, Thomas, his father and mother, Thomas and Kate, sisters Audry and Bess and nephew Egan.
Tom (Bud) was born on June 28th, 1931, in Sheridan, Oregon and moved to Canada at a young age, with his family.
He loved working the family ranch and later working as a log scaler in the forests south of Quesnel, B.C. It was in Quesnel that he met and married the love of his life, Grace "Eilene" Thornley.
Tom joined the BC Forest Service in 1961 and continue working there until his retirement in 1988. During his time with the forestry service, the family lived in Fort Nelson, Prince George, Fort Fraser, McBride, Nukko Lake, and Nelson, B.C.
Joan remembers her father as being an enthusiastic traveler as her parents vacationed all over the world.
Retirement led to their final move, Eilene's hometown of Ladysmith, B.C.
The family will be hosting an open house in memory of Tom.
This will be at his home, 388 Davis Road, Ladysmith, B.C. on Thursday, February 23rd from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
