KAY, THOMAS EDWARD

DEC. 19, 1919 – AUG. 6, 2008

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dad at the age of 88. Predeceased by his wife, Helen in 1995, left to mourn are daughter, Loraine; son Wayne (Diane); daughters Gloria (Harry); Joyce (Ivan); son Michael (Patti) and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dad was born in Merrickville, Ontario and move to Chemainus to pursue his career in the Chemainus Sawmill. He ran #2 Trimmer for many years. Dad enjoyed sports and was an avid soccer fan. In his younger years he was always seen on the soccer field “running the line.” Dad was a volunteer fireman for the Chemainus Fire Dept. Sports remained his lifelong passion and in his later years he never missed a single TV broadcast. Dad left us peacefully and pain free. A special thank you to the staff in Nanaimo hospital (palliative care) and the staff at the Ladysmith Lodge where Dad spent his last days. There will be no service, as a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
