October 13, 2004

May 10, 1926 — October 13, 2004

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden yet peaceful passing of beloved wife and mother, Verna Terwillliger. To Earl, her husband of thirty-three years, she was his "everlovin" and to us, she was our Mom. We all loved her deeply.Verna was born on the farm in the North Star District of Saskatchewan to Karl and Jenny Strandberg, where she grew up with her nine siblings. She lived for many years in the Dawson Creek and Fort St John area working as a stenographer for the BC Government Welfare department and North Peace School District. Upon their retirement, she and Earl moved to the Chemainus area of Vancouver Island and they spent many enjoyable winters as "snowbirds" in Apache Junction, Arizona.

Verna was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Bill, Cliff, Walter and Raymond, her sisters Myrtle and Alice, and her first husband, Harold Buchan. She is survived by her husband Earl Terwilliger, daughter Debbie (Rick) Hamm, son Richard Buchan (Debbie Middlemiss), five grandchildren Mike (Kelly Millard) Hamm, Curtis (Shelley MacKenzie) Hamm, Stacey (Rob) Buxton, James and Jason Buchan, five great-grandchildren Jacquelyn, Jayden & Jace Hamm and Mitchell & Abeni Buxton, and her sisters Gladys Moen, Helen Fennell and Agnes Douglas, as well as her many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, too many numerous to mention. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Cowichan District Hospital, Cowichan Lodge and Ladysmith Hospital for the wonderful care and support they provided during these last months.By her request, there will be cremation and no service. We will gather together friends and family to celebrate her life at a time as yet undetermined.Donations in Verna’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
