of Ladysmith, passed away January 10, 2007 at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Born in Milton, Nova Scotia on February 19, 1933, he was the son of Thaddaus and Nettie (Lloyd) Wentzell. He is survived by a daughter, Brenda Reid (Jamie) Pugwash, NS; a son Blair Wentzell (Regene), Surrey, BC; stepchildren Coni Long (Walter) of Nanaimo, BC; Ken Hawkins (Edi) and Kim Hawkins both of Calgary, AB; sister Pat Sampson of NS; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, his wife Kathleen (Kay), sisters Ruth Hartlen, Una Hodder, and Rhona Russell; and brothers Lawrence, Edward, Jordon and Victor. Vinny will be missed very much by family and friends, especially Glen. He was a machinist at Nanaimo Foundary for many years before his retirement.
Sincere thanks to medical and support staff at NRGH and very special thanks to friends and neighbours who helped countless times in many ways with yard work, plowing, gardening, preparing food, and caring in many other ways.
A reception in honour of Vinny will be held at his home in Ladysmith on Saturday, January 20 from 2pm to 5pm.
Cremation (arranged by First Memorial) and burial at sea to be arranged. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
