Walter Huntley
Beloved husband, father, brother and friend passed away at the Colonel Belcher Center in Calgary on March 1, 2004. Walter will be deeply missed by his loving wife Sarah Florence (nee McLean); his sons and their families; Cameron (Patricia, Kristen, Matthew and Sarah) and Duncan (Jennifer, Annika, Cameron and Neil); his siblings Gladice (Lee: John) and Rose (Spooner) and their families; the numerous nieces and nephews and younger friends who knew him affectionately as “Uncle Walt”; and his many close friends who came to love him over the years. Walter is predeceased by his parents Walter Charles and Agnes Elizabeth Dow, sisters Lorna and Iris, and brother William. Walter grew up in Ladysmith. Following high school graduation he served in RCAF as a Flying Officer. Walter graduated from U.B.C. as a geological engineer in 1949, and enjoyed a career of 35 years with Gulf Oil addressing the oil and coal exploration challenges of western Canada and the U.S. Walter’s loved ones grieve the loss of a man dedicated to the service of family, friends and community. He loved and was loved. His legacy will endure and live in our hearts forever.
