WILKINS, WAYNE

Mr. Wayne Harold Amos Wilkins, of Nanaimo, formerly of Ladysmith, BC, passed away suddenly on November 2, 2010 at the age of 74 due to injuries sustained in a vehicle accident.

Wayne was born in Calgary, AB on July 14, 1936 to Mr. Sydney and Eileen Wilkins.

He married Edna (nee Rowe) on February 28, 1958 in Calgary. He is survived by his two sons, Steve (Rita) of Ladysmith, BC and David (Vicki) of Nanaimo, BC as well as 3 grandchildren, A.J. (Jill), Marianne (Courtney) and Amanda (Jeremy), 2 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Lauryn and numerous other relatives. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Edna, his parents, brother Brian and sister Evelyn.

Wayne served with RCEME from 1954 to 1966. In 1966, Wayne and Edna moved to Didsbury, AB where he worked as a carpenter. From there they moved to Calgary where he continued to work in the construction industry. They later moved to Lethbridge for a short time eventually retiring to Chilliwack and then Ladysmith. After the passing of his wife, Wayne would eventually move to Nanaimo until the time of his passing.

He will be greatly missed by his children, families and all who knew him.

He was an active member of the Ladysmith Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 171, located at 621 First Avenue where there will be a celebration of Wayne’s life on November 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m.
