William Barrett

April 10, 2009

Barrett, William James

(1930-2009)

Bill showed the whites of his eyes at that big fishing hole in the sky on Good Friday, April 10, 2009.  He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Beverly, and his five children Patrick, Colleen, Kathleen, Kellie and Jacqueline as well as the mother of his children, Barbara.  Poppa Bill is also survived by eight grandchildren, Cory, Benjamin, Tyler, Kerri, Jodi, Caitlyn, Cale and Chelsea.  Six great-grandchildren will remember Poppa Bill also – Elizabeth, Kyra, Kody, Kennedy, Jordin and Alexander.  Bill worked as an electrician at Chemainus Sawmill for many years and when he wasn’t working he loved to fish in the saltchuck.  He was always ready to help out a friend and never stayed in one place for very long.  Camping trips with the family or ferry trips to the mainland heard “Where’s Dad?” the entire time.  Bill would be off meeting friends, new and old.  Where’s Dad?  He’s off meeting new and old friends once again.  No service will be held but you are encouraged to pick up a hitchhiker or chat with a stranger in his memory.  If you wish to contact the family, please email:
