WILFRED WILLIAM Boyd Barton (Bill) dies peacefully at the age of 67 years on Sunday, July 15, 2007, leaving us too soon following complications from paraplegia. Bill leaves to mourn, his wife of 41 years, Dawna. Bill was born in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta into a family of nine children. He leaves behind sisters Mary Barton, June Proteau, Donna Ferguson, and Annie Wood and brothers Fred and Wesley. Bill was predeceased by brothers jack and Harold and parents Frank and Betty. He is survived by his wife’s sisters Joyce (John) and Virginia (Robert) and their families and many nieces, nephews and friends. Following several years in Chemainus, B.C., Bill and Dawna relocated 34 years ago to Quesnel. Bill retired from West Fraser Sawmill in 1996 after 23 years of service. Following retirement, Bill continued his active outdoor farming lifestyle. He and Dawna spent many hours hunting, bowhunting and competing in archery. Bill was an accomplished archer, winning both B.C. and Canadian Championships in 2007. In February 2007 he was inducted into the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame for Disabled Archery. He accomplished more as a paraplegic than many who are able athletes. Bill was loving, hard working and a caring man. He accepted the challenges life gave him. A celebration of Bill’s life was held at his home. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at G.R. Baker Hospital, Quesnel, B.C.
