Winnifred (Winnie) Jean GARGETT

Peacefully after a short illness on November 16, 2005, in Ladysmith, BC, age 95 years. Winnie was born August 11, 1910, the oldest of six children to Samuel and Maria Andrews of Minnesota, MB. She moved to Winnipeg at the age of 18, took a business course and was employed with Marshall Wells Wholesale Ltd. for ten years, where she met and married Edward (Ted) Ernest Gargett. Loving and loyal companions for 58 years, Ted passed away Sept. 17, 1998. Winnie moved to the Wingview Seniors Home in Ladysmith, BC, during July 2000, where she has been a resident ever since. Winnie is survived by one sister Margaret (Harry) Wilson of Peterborough, Ontario and one brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Marie Andrews of Victoria, BC, along with sisters-in-law Beatrice (Jack) Andrews of Minnesota and Olive (Bill) Andrews of Estavan, Sask. Predeceased by her sister Vern and brother-in-law Les Hornsby. Graveside service will be held on Monday, November 28, 2005 at 11:00 am in the Thomson in the Park Cemetery with Rose Ferris of Westminster United Church officiating. Special thanks to Ivan and Mary Proud and staff at Wingview Seniors Home for going the "extra mile", to give Winnie the very best of care and to Doctor Fergus Kennedy. In lieu of flowers, donations in Winnie's memory to the Canadian Diabetic Assoc., 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, Man, R3C 0S6.
