I think the proposed Emily Carr monument is appalling, a disgrace to Emily Carr and a slap in the face to local carvers.
It reminds me of the tacky black velvet paintings of the 1970s.
A tourist draw? I don’t think so.
Oh well, maybe it won’t matter. With the library taking up the main Chemainus parking lot, there won’t be any tourists looking at the thing.
