How to balance truth, budgets

When interviewed after the tabling of the 2014 budget last February Justin Trudeau was asked if balancing the budget was a priority for him and if so how would he go about it.
He answered “the commitment needs to be a commitment to grow the economy and the budget will balance itself”.
The last part of that response has been taken out of context and used to ridicule Trudeau for thinking a budget will balance itself.
However if you are honest and take the whole of what he said he is in the august company of Flaherty, Thatcher, Regan and Harper himself who routinely point out that economic growth is crucial to balancing a budget.
