Editor:I am happy to see the upgraded skatepark now ready for use. And I have been dismayed to see the campaign for a skatepark in Chemainus still dragging on. It’s time for more of the older people, even seniors, to become advocates for the youth. Have we forgotten that we craved adventure and excitement when we were young?Given the number of skateboarders I saw yesterday without protective equipment, I fear that someone will get hurt. But we can’t prevent young people from engaging in high-risk behaviour. Better that it should happen in a place where risks have been reduced and help is near at hand. Ken HiebertLadysmith
