Why close pools during vacation?

Cobble Hill resident Steven Adriano wonders why he had to drive all the way to Nanaimo to find a public pool still open to the public.

Editor:

I want to complain that I had to drive a van full of kids all the way to Nanaimo pool to swim because the Duncan and Ladysmith pools were both closed at the same time for maintenance and cleaning.

Why do they close while summer is still on and the kids are not back in school yet? And [why close] more than one local pool at the same time?
