One of the oldest theatre groups in B.C. will continue its season with a light-hearted buddy comedy about living life to the fullest.

Norm Foster’s Jonas and Barry in the Home will be staged by the Yellow Point Drama Group at the Cedar Community Hall, starting on April 12.

According to a release for the production, the play’s plot follows 67-year-old Barry who is annoyed to already be living in a seniors’ home. His daughter, Rosie, who works at the home, brought her father in so he wouldn’t be alone in case he were to ever have a heart attack like his father, brother and uncle before him. Barry’s time at the home shuffling around in slippers is interrupted when the “loquacious and flirtatious” Jonas enters his life. As the two characters bicker and bond over women, sports and family values, they must learn to open up and face how to keep living their lives.

The three-person cast of Christian Ostaffy as Barry Butterfield, Gord McInnis as Jonas Ainsworth, and Aisling Kennedy as Rosie, will be directed by Moira Fox.

Jonas and Barry in the Home will run at 2388 Cedar Rd. on select days between April 12-28 with showings at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.yellowpointdramagroup.org or purchased at the door.
