Planning for the Gathering

The Ladysmith Royal Canadian Legion Branch 171 wishes to announce they have been bestowed the honour of hosting the 40th annual B.C. Legions Highland Gathering.

Pipe and drum bands and colour parties from across the province will parade down First Avenue at 9:30 a.m. June 18 to lead everyone to the gathering site at Aggie Park.

The weekend will begin Friday, June 17, with the legion hosting a meet and greet for the bands to meet the public at the branch.

Guy Bezeau’s band, Island Country, will be providing live music that night.

On Saturday, June 18, the gathering will be followed by an awards banquet in the Ladysmith Secondary.

A limited number of tickets to that event may be available at the legion office after May 15.  On Sunday, June 19, the ladies auxiliary will hold a pancake breakfast for all to enjoy at the branch from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The legion’s goal is to host a first-class event and showcase Ladysmith to the rest of the province.

To accomplish their goal, members are actively seeking more sponsors.

They require sponsors for cash donations and items for auction.
