Textile artist and quiltmaker Pippa Moore brings A Sense of Colour to the Ladysmith Waterfront Gallery starting this weekend.
Moore was visually impacted by her life changing experiences in the African country of Lesotho which influenced her development as an artist, particularly with respect to her use of color.
The colours of Africa mirror the celebration, laughter, song and dance of her people even through difficult circumstances. Moore brings a sense of joy and hope to her visual narrative.
Join Moore at the opening reception on Saturday July 21 from 2-4pm. The show runs until July 29th with 30 per cent of proceeds going to the Widows’ Gardens Project in Uganda.
The show also features a unique quilt made by a group of Ugandan women - some did the embroidery and some added the borders to each block. It was then assembled with sashing and quilted by the Hornby Quilters.
It will be displayed and for sale at the Ladysmith Waterfront Gallery and all of the proceeds will go to Ugandan women.
