The Ladysmith Little Theatre is now staging a new production that features two plays that pay tribute to the golden age of radio.

Starting this week, the theatre will began its presentation of Radio Plays, Live, a pair of 1940s radio plays performed in front of a “live studio audience.”

The first play, The Adventures of Philip Marlowe: The Green Flame, first broadcast in 1949 and written by Raymond Chandler, is a “gritty” crime drama revolving around a detective who is investigating “a case of libel that quickly turns into intrigue, and possibly romance,” according to a news release from the theatre.

The second, Fibber McGee and Molly: Piano Lessons, written by Don Quinn and first broadcast in 1941, is a “light-hearted comedy about an aspiring pianist with no musical talent whatsoever.”

The show goes from Feb. 15 to March 3. Tickets for the show are $25 for non-members, $20 for members, and $20 each for groups of 10 or more. Tickets are available at http://ladysmiththeatre.com.
