The show must go on despite the snow.

The Cowichan Valley Showcase went ahead Jan. 20 at Fuller Lake Arena, but without one club that usually participates. Kerry Park Skating Club members didn’t attend, but Fuller Lake and Duncan Skating Club members were there to showcase their talents.

“The Showcase is a fun competition that has been shared between the Valley clubs for many years,” noted Jennifer Torres Hernandez, Fuller Lake Skating Club’s president. “The theme this year was a very “Sea-Rious Competition: July in January.”

The Fuller Lake and Duncan skaters in the Star 1 to 10 categories had a chance to strut their stuff, showing off solos in friendly competition.

”All the skaters were placed in mixed teams comprised of skaters from the different clubs,” added Hernandez. “Each team included a mix of all ages and skill levels with team leaders.”

Skaters used the opportunity to prepare for the Vancouver Regional Competition Feb. 2-4 at the Racquet Club of Victoria.

Kerry Park Skating Club will host the Cowichan Valley Showcase next year.
