A Nanaimo woman won half a million dollars on the the Extra.
The B.C. Lottery Corporation announced Tuesday that Elaine Rogers won $500,000 playing the Extra on the Aug. 24 Daily Grand draw.
Rogers had gone to a store and had bought an ice cream, then thought to check her ticket.
“I just couldn’t believe it,” she said in a BCLC press release. “I stood there in shock as my ice cream melted down my hands. It took two clerks to convince me I had won.”
She said she planned to celebrate her win shopping with friends and having dinner – and ice cream for dessert – with family.
Rogers’s winning ticket was purchased at the lotto kiosk at Country Club Centre.
