COWAN,
Richard Winslow
September 17, 1947 - March 15, 2017
Our dear colleague and friend, Richard Cowan, passed away while recovering from open-heart surgery, but like the company guy he was, up until his passing, he was reviewing and discussing work plans with Leo.
Richard was not only a dedicated employee, but he was a true friend. If you needed his help with anything, whether it was his expertise and experience, or his trucking abilities, he was always available. He had a great sense of humour, and was always looking to crack a joke. He sometimes showed a gruff exterior, but he had a kind heart, shown by his love and devotion to his dogs that he owned. He made sure that he went to the pound or the SPCA to get a dog, because he knew how badly they needed a home, and boy did those dogs have a good life! He befriended many people, simply by understanding what they needed (which was usually a little direction) and not judging their decisions.
Richard was predeceased by his foster son, Luke. He will be sorely missed by: his employer and friends, Leo and Deb Limberis; his lifelong friend, Rob Stretton; and many other coworkers and friends from all over the country.
No service will be held as per Rick’s request – if you would like to do something in Richard’s name, please make a donation to the Nanaimo SPCA or your local pound.
