Update: Ladysmith re-issues RFP

Update: At the meeting March 7, council accepted the recommendation to hire Capital Asset Group as land agent and Royal LePage Ladysmith as realtor pending legal review.

Ladysmith council last month voted to send back a request for proposals in hopes of getting some context. The RFP was sent out for a land-agent to help bring to market some town-owned land. It was answered by one company, Capital Asset Group at a cost of $3,467/month plus real estate brokerage and marketing fees.Council cited concerns it was the only application sent back.Concerns were not with the quality of the proposal, but the fact there were no other responses with which to compare Capital Asset’s. Council voted down the submission and re-issued the request for proposal.Mayor Rob Hutchins said the town is looking to sell some parcels of land — including a three-and-a-half acre parcel on Grouhel Road.“It’s a complex piece of land because part of the parcel has an environmental issue to it,” said Hutchins.“So we are looking for expertise for the best ways to bring that to market.”Since the re-issued RFP, the town has received many more proposals including: Capital Asset Group, Royal LePage Ladysmith, NAI Commercial, Coast Realty (K. Mazurenko/D. Kulai), Coast Realty (G. Buchanan) and Cindy Nesselbeck, RI.
