Chemainus-area businesses were honoured by the Chemainus and District Chamber of Commerce in late November at the annual Golden Brush Awards dinner.
The awards recognize excellence in businesses and individuals, particularly those that contribute to the community. This year, more than 260 nominations were received in nine categories. The 10th category, the President’s Award, is chosen by the Chamber president, with input from the board of directors. This year’s award recipients are:

• Food Service Business of the Year: Willow Street Café
• Retail Business of the Year: Bound to be Different
• Manufacturing Business of the Year: Thermoproof Windows and Doors
• Trades Person or Contractor of the Year: Tim Openshaw Contracting
• Professional Service Business of the Year: Chemainus Valley Courier
• Personal Service Business of the Year: Doc the Barber
• Customer Service: Debra Young and Teresa Davies, Twisted Sisters Tea Room
• Volunteer of the Year: Karen Hopkins
• President’s Award: Ron Neubauer
