On Easter Sunday, Ladysmith will be getting a very special visit from the Easter Bunny.

The Easter Bunny will be at 317 Robert’s Street between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Families are welcome to drive by, or pull into the driveway to say hello to the Easter Bunny. He has requested that families and children maintain social distancing.

Ladysmith resident, Brittany Cahill sent a letter to the Easter Bunny asking if he could come to visit the children of Ladysmith.

“I explained in my letter how difficult it has been for the boys and girls to not be able to go to school, visit their friends, or play at the park. I told the Easter Bunny how well the kids have all done with social distancing. I know there are many kids that are sad about not being able to go around to do Easter egg hunts,” Cahill said.

She asked the Easter Bunny to respond if he was able to come visit. He responded in capital letters.

“YES, LETS MAKE THOSE KIDS SMILE”, the Easter Bunny wrote.

Cahill’s father-in-law, Keith Cahill will be arranging transport for the Easter Bunny, as he does each year for the Easter function at Crofton Mill. That function has even cancelled this year due to COVID-19.

The Easter Bunny has asked that children and families maintain social distancing. Although he would love to hand out Easter eggs and colouring sheets to the children, he will not be doing so this year because of COVID-19. Waves, smiles, honks, and big hellos will make the Easter Bunny happy, and he may even do a little dance.

The Chronicle reached out to the Easter Bunny asking if he had a message for the children of Ladysmith.

“To all the girls and boys, the Easter Bunny wants you to know he’s thinking of you all. We need to keep our distance, but I still want to see your smiling faces. Be kind, stay safe, wash your paws, and eat your vegetables,” he said.
