The new building on High Street is on track for its March 31 completion date.

The High Street project is on track, according to the mayor.

“It’s progressing really well and still looking at a March 31 completion date,” Rob Hutchins said about the building which will house the Seniors’ Centre, Resources Centre and the food bank.

Dennis Lait, executive director of the Ladysmith Resources Centre said it’s tough to do much planning until the building is completed.

“We’ve just started talking about how we’re going to move,” he said. “The logistics.”

Lait said the centre is looking forward to the move.

“We’re finally seeing it come to fruition,” he said of the project. “It’s just another step in the services we can offer.”

Lait said getting the community involved with the move is something the centre is definitely looking at.

He also said the centre will be offering services during the transition.

“When we interrupt our programming it’s not only disruptive to us, but to our clients,” he explained. “We want to disrupt as little as possible.”

The entire High Street project is budgeted at $5.2 million and it must be completed by March 31, 2011, due to grant funding contracts.
