The 9th annual Valley Antique Sale will take place at the Cowichan Exhibition Grounds August 16 – 17.
There will be over 60 vendors and over 220 tables at the sale, and countless antiques available for sale. Proceeds raised from the sale go toward funding the Chemanius/Crofton C to Sea Lions Club, and their activities in the community.
“This is our primary fundraiser,” lead organizer Judy Istace said. “Any money we make we put back in to the community… We’ve got lots of things that we give money to, and that’s where all the money will go to.”
Vendors save interesting items throughout the year for this specific sale. In her time organizing the show, Istace has seen antique dolls, old toys, glassware, a giant school bell from an old schoolhouse, and many other unique items.
Aside from the antiques, the sale is also known for their famous chilli and pulled pork concession provided by Maple Lane Cafe & Catering.
“We’ve had people as they’re leaving stick their heads in the back door of kitchen and say ‘that is the best pulled pork I’ve ever had’. We’ve gotten specific comments saying, ‘this is amazing, I’ve never had concession food like this’. It’s pretty phenomenal. If you don’t come for the antiques, come for the food.”
Admission to the sale is five dollars. Children 12 and under get in free. The one time admission fee gives access for both days of the sale. The sale will run 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm on Friday, and 10:00 am – 3:00 pm on Saturday.
“It’s a great show. It’s so fun to come and look. People come and spend their five dollars, they can spend hours looking at all these tables. You can come in multiple times and there’s something different every time you come in,” Istace said.
