The Chemainus Theatre Festival is proud to welcome back to the stage, A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline.

After last year’s phenomenal success, the show is back in Chemainus to delight audiences once again.

Starring Vancouver Island’s own Sara-Jeanne Hosie as Patsy Cline, the show is a musical tribute to the North American legend considered one of the most influential, successful and acclaimed female vocalists of the 20th century.

Chemainus Theatre Festival artistic director, Mark DuMez, is enthused to kick off the 2011 season with “one of the most popular shows we’ve ever run.

“This show has so much to offer and is the perfect start to the year. Sara-Jeanne Hosie returns to reprise her inspiring performance and the show features a band of world-class musicians with incredible chops, long recording careers, diverse touring gigs and talented young virtuosos,” said DuMez.

Award-winning actor, choreographer, director and songwriter, Hosie has “always been a fan of Patsy.

“Many people easily identified with her home-town girl personality. It is her voice that really captures people – you can hear her voice racked with emotion. I love singing her material,” said Hosie.

From small town Virginia to the bright lights of Carnegie Hall, Cline’s legend is a monument to ambition, grace and talent.

This moving show is a tribute to a dazzling star lost at the peak of her career and features classics such as Walkin’ After Midnight, Crazy, Sweet Dreams and I Fall to Pieces.

Experience the magic of an unforgettable woman and an unforgettable voice.

The show, by Dean Regan, stars Hosie (Patsy Cline) and Andrew Legg (Little Big Man). Musicians include: Marisha Devoin (bass), James McRae (drums), Alan Medcalf (guitars), Nico Rhodes (piano) and Nathan Tinkham (guitar).

It is directed by Shane Snow, co-musical direction by J. Douglas Dodd and Nico Rhodes, scenic design by Omanie Elias, lighting design by Ereca Hassell, costume design by Norma Bowen and is stage managed by David Baughan.

Don’t miss this tribute to a legend, A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline runs Jan. 28 to Feb. 19. The Chemainus Theatre Experience package includes a pre-show buffet in the Playbill Dining Room with a theatre performance, packages from $48 to $64 (plus taxes).
