The Kinsmen Club of Ladysmith held its 69th annual installation of officers on Saturday. The event attracted over 40 members and guests. The swearing-in of the club’s executive was unique this time as it was decided the previous year’s executive would serve another term, due to the pandemic limiting the club’s operations.

Awards were presented to Kinsmen who went above and beyond on behalf of the club. Al Moore was presented with the President’s Award trophy and the Kinsmen of The Year Award was handed to Mike Richardson by club president Cory Friesenhan.

The installation was conducted by Duck Paterson, who swore in seven members to the executive. Moore was sworn in as club secretary and Mark Grills and Michael Roethe were sworn in as directors.

Rodney Woods was presented with the Registrar’s Certificate and Jason Kelland as Treasurer. Richardson and Friesenhan were sworn in as vice-president and president respectively.

Friesenhan congratulated the members for a successful year, even though COVID-19 limited club activities. He said supporting youth sports and activities was still important to the members. The club provided financial support to various organizations and he noted the members spearheading the new downtown public washroom project, which took a couple of years.

The Ladysmith Kinsmen are looking for new members. Anyone interested in joining can email ladysmith.kinsmen@telus.net.
