Local businesses are polishing up their finest wares for the Ladysmith Home, Garden and Business Show March 30-31.

The annual show, hosted by the Ladysmith Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Ladysmith, returns to Aggie Hall with approximately 36 vendors.

Approximately 600-800 people are expected to attend.

“We have a nice selection of vendors this year,” said chamber president Rhonda Shirley. “There’s a great showcase of different vendors that you may not necessarily find on First Avenue, but they’re part of our community and we want to support our local businesses.”

Some of those vendors include Safeway Floral, Home Hardware, Town of Ladysmith, Shift Happens, Valley Carpet, Mid-Island Granite, and Lia Sophia.

This year, the Cowichan Valley Capitals will even take part in the show.

“They’re promoting their 2012-13 season tickets,” Shirley said.

Andy Beeley from 89.7 Sun FM will be broadcasting on site for the majority of the Friday, and Sun FM staff will pop in from time to time on Saturday.

Adding to the fun will be a Lions Club concession with soup and sandwiches, as well as a silent auction with donated goodies from all of the vendors.

In addition to helping the vendors get their products out to the public, the show is a great opportunity for local residents to meet the people behind the businesses in their own backyard.

“The connections you make — that is so important,” Shirley said. “People like to be able to see a face.”

The Ladysmith Home, Garden and Business Show will run Fri., March 30 from 2:30-8 p.m. and Sat., March 31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.

Anyone who has ideas or input on improving the show is welcome to contact the Ladysmith Chamber of Commerce at 250-245-2112.
