The CRVD has reached a new agreement with the United Steel Workers Union.

The Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD) and United Steel Workers (USW) Local 1-1937 have ratified a new collective agreement.

The three-year agreement ends on December 31, 2019 and includes a general wage increase of 1.99 per cent per year and operational improvements for both union members and the organization.

“The Board of Directors understands the challenge of negotiations and appreciates the dedication of both management and union employees that has resulted in this new collective agreement,” said CVRD chair Jon Lefebure.

The 56 employees of USW Local 1927 work to provide CVRD’s recycling and solid waste services, utility services as well as Cowichan Lake Recreation programs and facility maintenance.
