Jaimee Kodric is grateful for all the support she received in her bid to win the $25,000 grand prize and Inked magazine cover photo shoot.
The Chemainus Secondary School 2010 grad and Ladysmith resident is now out of the running after ending up second in her wild card group that wasn’t enough to move her into the semifinals.
“I am disappointed,” Kodric conceded. “I’m OK with not making it further.”
She fell one step short of last year when she won her group and made it into the semifinals.
“Thank you so much to everyone for the support and kind messages during this contest,” added Kodric. “You are all so wonderful and I feel very loved.”
There is no actual judging of the contestants done by representatives of the magazine. It’s entirely based on on-line public response.
“It’s all voting and it’s also buying votes by people as well,” Kodric explained. “That’s what makes it hard.”
She added to her portfolio as the contest went along, working with photographers Stan Novotny and Michael Weir to enhance her chances.
People could vote once every 24 hours. The process is continuing until an eventual winner is determined.
Kodric is the owner and lash tech at Wicked Lashes, a business she runs from her own home, but is closed for the time being due to the COVID-19 situation.
Having worked with several photographers and others who’ve contacted her about future photo shoots, she hopes some increased modeling opportunities may be in her future. Kodric has also been approached about possible music video assignments in the future as well once the pandemic has passed.
The Inked contest gave her the confidence to push forward.
“I just want to thank everybody in the country for their support and their kind messages,” Kodric noted.
“I think it’s been fun doing all these new things now - stuff to look forward to.”
Kodric hasn’t ruled out entering the competition a third time next year. There’s a strong determination on her part that’s reflected in the expression from her many tattoos.
Inked magazine is a tattoo lifestyle digital media company covering music, fashion, art, sports and the rest of the lifestyle of the tattooed.
