Ladysmith RCMP briefs – Jan. 25 to Jan. 31

Mischief:

A woman was drunk and attempting to start a fight on Cedar Road on Jan. 25. She was arrested for mischief and care and control of a motor vehicle. She was transported to the Ladysmith RCMP detachment and held until sober.

Driving offences:

A driver failed to make a complete stop at the stop sign in front of an RCMP officer on First Avenue and Roberts Street on Jan. 26. The driver had an invalid licence and was issued an notice and order for fail to stop and a notice of suspension.

RCMP spotted a vehicle swerving on Rocky Creek Road on Jan. 29. The driver showed signs and symptoms of recent drug use and the passengers were intoxicated. The driver had also failed to display his “N.” The vehicle was towed.

Break and enter:

There was an attempted break and enter at the BC Hydro compound at the end of Hambrook Street on Jan. 27. The fence had been cut where repairs had been made previously.

Tree planting equipment and a green camping stove were taken from an unlocked crawl space on Sanderson Road on Jan. 30. Dirty white socks, a lighter and loose change were left behind on an unrolled carpet. The total value of the stolen items is $200.

Theft:

After a mattress was delivered to a residence on Second Avenue on Jan. 27, the homeowner noticed three rings and watch missing. One of the movers has been identified in the theft.

A rear B.C. licence plate, Valtag and insurance papers were stolen from a vehicle sometime during the week of Jan. 28 on Brenton Page Road.

A rear B.C. licence plate and a Valtag were stolen off a vehicle in the 11,000 block of Chemainus Road on Jan 29.

Breach of conditions:

A woman was arrested for two outstanding warrants at an address on Chuckwagon Trail on Jan. 29. The warrants were from North Cowichan Duncan detachment for theft and a false credit card and from Nanaimo detachment for breach of probation.

A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant, Jan. 31. The warrants were out of the Oceanside detachment. While being searched, police found a small amount of heroin in the man’s possession. The man is held for court with new charges of breach of probation.
