Box by box and truck by truck, the Ladysmith Resources Centre and Ladysmith Food Bank have been moving to their new home.

Dennis Lait, executive director of the Resources Centre, said they, and more than 20 volunteers have been working for around three weeks to move the organization to its new spot on High Street.

There are still a few loose ends to wrap up at the old building, said Lait.

“Generally we are 90 per cent in,” he said adding the centre should be completely moved by the end of the month.

That said, anyone looking for the Resources Centre should be coming to the new building.

Lait said he and his staff are thrilled to be in the new building.

“They got new digs they are really happy,” Lait said of the staff. “Some of them said ‘There will be heat in the winter time and they won’t have to come in early to work because it gets too hot in the summer time.’ ”

The move would not have gone so smooth it if weren’t for the several volunteers who gave their time to aid the relocation.

“The more hands you have, the better it is,” he added.

Lait said they are still nailing down a time for an open house so people can come and check out the new building.

There will also be a bigger ceremony to celebrate the opening of the building, Spirit Square and Boys and Girls Club.
