Nanaimo RCMP arrested a man on an Alberta- and B.C.-wide warrant yesterday in Ladysmith.
Thirty-nine-year-old John Lukan was arrested without incident outside his place of employment by a Nanaimo RCMP general duty officer, according to a news release from the Nanaimo RCMP.
Lukan will appear in court today (May 1) for a remand hearing pending his transportation back to Alberta.
On April 25, Nanaimo RCMP received information from the Edmonton Police Department that Lukan was living in Ladysmith, according to the release.
"Wanted in Alberta for a sexual assault that occurred in November 2010, Lukan has an extensive criminal history for a variety of criminal offences, including assault, theft and impaired driving," state the RCMP.
