There’s still no action on the new Chemainus library site.
Construction was supposed to begin at two different times in 2018.
Black Press was told on Nov. 26 in an email that the construction tender closed Nov. 21 and the Vancouver Island Regional Library was in final negotiations with the successful bidder and that we (The Courier) were at “the top of the recipient list” for the release of information.
Following a further inquiry, Black Press was told again Jan. 17 we’d be “among the first to know” when there’s news.
Construction is now anticipated to begin in early 2019.
It still hasn’t been announced which construction company received the contract for the building at the former Chemainus Firehall site on Willow Street in downtown Chemainus. Affordable housing will be built beside it.
