A pedestrian was struck at the intersection of Roberts Street and 1st Avenue Tuesday just before 11:00 am.

An eye witness, who chose to remain anonymous, said they saw a vehicle travelling eastbound on Roberts Street toward the Trans Canada Highway when the pedestrian was struck.

“I saw the lady fall down. Then I ran around the corner, saw that she was down on her side and she was immobile at that moment.”

The witness helped the pedestrian walk off of the street. Nancy Howitt of Nancy’s Fashion and Furnishings brought out a chair for the pedestrian to sit on and some blankets to keep her warm.

No charges will be laid in the incident. The driver remained on scene and gave a statement to the RCMP. The RCMP did not comment on the incident.

Emergency services responded quickly. The pedestrian was transported to hospital to be assessed for injuries.

The intersection of Roberts Street and 1st Avenue is a four-way stop, and is known for high traffic of both vehicles and pedestrians.
