A tour boat ended up on top of the bridge after an accident on the Trans Canada Highway and Mt. Sicker Road.A pickup truck towing a boat on a trailer lost control causing the boat to topple onto the road, blocking traffic.“It was a pretty small truck,” said Eric Kernachan who saw the accident and snapped a photo. He said the truck was wobbly and started to fishtail.“The trailer flipped right over, the boat kept going down the highway,” he said. The accident occurred just before noon Tuesday, March 8.Cpl. Kevin Day of the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP said the truck was travelling southbound in the fast lane. The driver made contact with the median about 100-metres from the bridge.“He tried to correct and collided with the barrier on the side of the road,” Day said.A crane had to be called in to haul the boat away and a tow truck was called also. There were no injuries and no other vehicles involved, Day said. The pickup truck had minimal damage to the passenger side. The wet road may have been a factor in the accident, Day said. The investigation as to what directly caused the incident is still ongoing.
