LAINE, Arvo
passed away peacefully on February 25, 2004 at the Finnish-Canadian Resthome in Vancouver at the age of 87. Born in Turku, Finland in 1916, he immigrated to Ladysmith in 1951 and worked for MacMillan Bloedel as a logger until his retirement in 1981. He and Helmi moved to Vancouver in 1995. He is survived by his wife Helmi, children Tarja (John) Woodthorpe, Jarmo (Julia) Laine, Helene (Tim) Stevens; grandchildren Morgan, Seija Laine, Jeffery, Eric Woodthorpe, Grant, Adam, Jennifer Stevens and great granddaugther Aliyah.
Graveside service will be held at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens on Saturday March 6, 2004 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, friends may make a memorial donation to the Finnish-Canadian Resthome, Activity Department, 2288 Harrison Drive, Vancouver, BC V5P 2P6.
