Barry Kevin HAMMOND

February 2, 2007

(Oct. 12., 1944-

Feb. 2, 2007)

Barry passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his mother Elsie, wife- Jo-Ann, Son Andrew in Alaska our Daughter-in-law Abigail, and grandchildren: Justin and Emily. He has numerous nieces and nephews. Barry worked for Nickel Bros. House Moving for over 30 years. He was also a proud member of St. John's Masonic Lodge here in Ladysmith, and was the master of the Lodge in the 100th Year in 1993-94, and again, some years later. Recently, he had been made the D.D.G.M. and was honored to do so. I would like to thank Dr. Fergus Kennedy, for his care and compassion. All the nursing staff had gone out of their way to make sure Barry was the most comfortable he could be. Our friends made sure there was always someone to talk to or visit with, and they visited when Barry was able to see them. I had many calls from my Nile friends from Victoria and Nanaimo caring so much. My sisters Carol, and Sue along with brother-in law Dr. Jim Benoit sat with Barry at the hospital for long hours giving us both support. I really appreciated all the e-mails, calls and cards. Many thanks to Dawn and Al Nickel and the crew Barry worked with for enquiring daily how he was doing. There is no service by Barry’s request, but there is a Celebration Tea at the Eagle’s Hall on First Ave, in Ladysmith on Thurs. Feb. 8th, 2007, from 1 to 3 pm.
